After undergoing a rigorous process, Prof Peter Muriungi has emerged top to become the first principal of Tharaka University College .
He has been the acting principal for the last one year after the University College was elevated from a Chuka University campus.
On receiving the news of his appointment by the Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed , the linguist vowed to work with all stakeholders in transforming the institution to higher standards to enable it get a charter as a fully-fledged university.
“I will work diligently so that the college is uplifted to a university in order to promote education and economy in the region,” Prof Muriungi told media.
Chuka University Vice Chancellor Erastus Njoka has promised to continue supporting the institution in terms of infrastructure and boosting its current enrolment of 400 students among others. Tharaka is a constituent college of Chuka University.
“I have worked with Prof Muriungi and I am confident he is up to task and will scale up the college to higher levels,” Prof Njoka said on phone.
